How To Use Coconut Oil For Treating Sunburns

We all love to go out and enjoy a sunny day. But are you aware of the consequences of that? The UV rays of the sun can cause significant damage to the skin and lead to sunburns.

Sunburns at times also cause pain, rashes, scars, wrinkles, blister, etc. As the skin is very sensitive post the sunburn, it is better to treat it with natural ingredients. Coconut oil is one such ingredient that works effectively in treating sunburns.

Coconut oil contains vitamin D, E other proteins and nutrients that help in soothing the skin. Also, it acts as a moisturiser that hydrates the skin thus giving a soft and supple skin.

Now, let us see the remedies that can treat sunburns using coconut oil.

Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera And Lavender Oil

This is a very effective remedy in treating sunburns and soothing the skin. Mix about 2-3 tbsp of aloe vera gel, 1 tsp of coconut oil and a few drops of lavender oil. Apply this on the affected area and gently massage. Leave it on for a few minutes. Later, you can wash it off with normal water. For better results apply this mixture every day.

Coconut Oil And Tea Tree Oil

This is the best remedy to treat inflammation, rashes and itchiness. All you need is 2-3 drops of tea tree oil and about 2 tbsp of coconut oil. Make sure to slightly warm the coconut oil if it is in a solid form. Mix together coconut oil and tea tree oil. Apply this wherever you have the sunburn. Leave it for 15-20 minutes and wash it off withlukewarm water. You can even leave it overnight for better results and wash it off the next day morning.

Coconut Oil And Apple Cider Vinegar

Both coconut oil and apple cider vinegar help in soothing the skin. This remedy also acts as a sunscreen lotion. First mix together ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of water. Stir the mixture well. Transfer this solution into a spray bottle and spray it over the sunburn. Leave it on for a few minutes and then apply coconut oil on top of it. Gently massage the area in a circular motion.

Coconut Oil And Sandalwood Powder

This remedy acts as a pack to treat the sunburn. You will need 4 tsp of sandalwood powder, 2 tsp almond oil and 5 tbsp of coconut oil. Mix all the three ingredients in a clean bowl. Combine the ingredients together so that no lumps are formed. Apply an even layer of this paste on the affected area and leave it on until it dries. You can wash it off with normal water.

Coconut Oil And Camphor

Camphor has soothing properties and is known to heal the skin. Take some camphor and crush it to make a fine powder. Add this into some coconut oil and mix the ingredients well. Apply to the affected area. Leave it on for some time and wash it off with normal water. Follow this remedy every day for better results.
