Dark circles under the eyes can make us worry to some extent because of the way we look. It often makes us look tired and lifeless. One can have dark circles due to several factors like stress, environmental pollution, excess drinking or smoking and even hormonal issues. It can also occur due to ageing. Whatever be the reason, dark circles can be avoided by following certain remedies that are natural in nature.
Most of the under eye creams available or other cosmetic products that hide dark circles may not suit all skin types. Some sensitive skin types are prone to allergies. So for them there needs to be an alternative method that will treat dark circles without causing any damage. One such ingredient is mint leaves.
Mint leaves have menthol that helps in improving blood circulation that will even out the skin under the eyes. Also, vitamin C in mint leaves improves the elasticity of the skin. Now, let us see how we can use these mint leaves to treat dark circles.
The bleaching properties of tomato and lemon help in detoxifying the skin. All you need to do is to blend ½ of a tomato and mint leaves. The next step is to add a tbsp of fresh lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Finally, mix all the ingredients well. Apply this under your eyes and allow it to dry. After drying you can wash it off in cold water. Repeat this at least twice a week.
Potato helps in lightening the skin with its bleaching properties. You will need a potato and a handful of fresh mint leaves. Peel the potato and cut it into small pieces. Add this in a blender along with the mint leaves. Blend it to make a smooth paste. Dip a cotton pad into this and refrigerate it for an hour. Later, place this cotton pad under your eyes and leave it for another 15-20 minutes. Finally, wash it off with normal water.
This is the easiest and effective remedy of all. Take a handful of fresh mint leaves and put it in a blender. Add a few drops of lemon juice and blend both the ingredients well to make a paste. Apply this mint paste under your eyes. You can use a cotton ball to apply. Leave it on for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes you can rinse it off with water and pat dry.
All you need for this is a handful of mint leaves and 2 tbsp rose water. Blend both the ingredients in a blender. Store this mixture in the refrigerator and leave it overnight. Next day morning, strain this mixture. Dip two cotton balls in this and then place it over your eyes. Leave it on for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes wash it off with normal water and pat dry. Repeat it regularly.
This will help in removing the excess dirt on the skin and thus brightening the skin. First, blend the mint leaves to make a paste. Add 1 tbsp gram flour and 1 tsp of turmeric into the paste and mix all the ingredients well. Apply a layer of this under your eyes and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off with normal water.
